Come Join Us For A.i. At On the Rox

We all know that the SSMF is taking over the Strip full force this weekend! With the help of our friends at Red Bull, we are transforming ON THE ROX into a super swanky VIP lounge - but what good is that, without a great band? Enter, A.i. They’ve been one of our favorite bands for a very long time and we couldn’t be happier to have them rock n roll all night long with us. This is a guestlist event, but wanted to make sure we gave you all a chance to attend as well. So, please RSVP below! Please note that the event is 21+ only, and you must present a photo I.D at the door.

Bryan Adams Keith Urban and Bonnie Raitt Make Some Roxy History With Legendary Performance

Bryan Adams and Friends Live at The Roxy
When someone like Bryan Adams says “special guests,” you know it’s going to be huge. Because, he’s THAT cool. Aside from his amazing show on the Sunset Strip last night (3 encores!) - he played ALL the hits. Summer of ‘69 acoustic? Yes please. Cuts Like A Knife? Run To You? Heat of the Night? Check, Check and Check. The room was packed - it was rocking THEN out comes his special guests. BONNIE RAITT and KEITH URBAN!!! Words cannot explain what took place on the Roxy stage, check out this vid for a little taste! Now tell us, what was your favorite part?

Thanks to our new friend, Kate The Russian, for the awesome video. And our house photographer Erik Voake for the great pic!

So check us out…follow us…and we’ll update you on the happs.

ABOUT

Fans and performers alike will readily tell the tales of their more memorable Roxy experiences. Such is the influence of one of the country’s most legendary and influential music venues. From the Roxy’s 1973 opener featuring Neil Young, to Bruce Springsteen’s now-classic 1975 performances, the history of The Roxy Theatre is paved with icons, whether it was Guns N’ Roses’ pre-stardom shows, Miles Davis, Jane’s Addiction, Pearl Jam, or others. Three decades on, the club has also been a popular performance Mecca for other entertainment, including stage productions, comedy shows, and performance art. Among the club’s unique features are comfortable booth seating, full-service and draft bar, and a menu that features a modest array of dishes to keep appetites satisfied. The Roxy’s open dance floor and superb sound facilities offer fans one of the most intimate entertainment experiences around. There’s also “On The Rox,” an on-site, after-hours facility that has been the setting for some of Hollywood’s hottest parties. Located above The Roxy and overlooking Sunset Blvd., “On The Rox” features its own full-service bar and DJ booth with proprietary sound system. Always in touch with its past, The Roxy lets fans glimpse at the legacy when they enter the club, thanks to an extensive collection of artist performance photos that adorn the club’s walls.

This is from the article about us in Wikipedia:

The Roxy Theatre (often just The Roxy) is the lengendary nightclub located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California. It was opened on September 23, 1973 by Elmer Valentine and Lou Adler along with original partners David Geffen, Elliot Roberts and Peter Asher. They took over building previously occupied by a strip club owned by Chuck Landis called the Largo. (Adler was actually responsible for bringing the stage play Rocky Horror Show to the United States, and it opened its first American run at The Roxy Theatre in 1974, before it was made into the movie Rocky Horror Picture Show the next year.)

Hundreds of famous and yet-to-be-famous acts such as Nirvana (band), Tori Amos, Foo Fighters, Guns N’ Roses, Al Stewart, Jane’s Addiction and David Bowie have played this highly prestigious venue. The small On The Rox bar above the club has hosted a wide variety of debauchery in its history; it was a regular hangout for John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Alice Cooper and Keith Moon during Lennon’s “lost weekend” in 1975, and in the 1980s hosted parties arranged by “Hollywood Madam” Heidi Fleiss. According to LA.com, On The Rox “may be forever known as the club where John Belushi partied before fatally ODing. That may sound like a sordid reason for the club’s fame, but it only underscores the hard-partying reputation that befits a room equipped with two stripper poles. Recently, it has hosted private DJ nights as well as after-parties following the shows downstairs; on a Tuesday night not long ago, all three members of buzz band Kings of Leon were spotted heading upstairs to rock out with the Mooney Suzuki after their Roxy show.”

Brighten Your Day and Come to On The Rox

One of the most notorious party spots on the Sunset Strip - On The Rox has been home to some of the most legendary Rock N Roll happenings EVER. It’s a small space that knows how to shake it! It’s normally a 21+ room, but for the show on 12/7 - we didn’t want to leave anyone out! Make sure to catch all the bands - which includes “We Shot The Moon” featuring members from Sherwood and the former singer of Waking Ashland.

…came the metallic quintet Saliva (singer Josey Scott, guitarists Chris Dabaldo and Wayne Swinny, bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer Paul Crosby). Originally formed in September 1996, the band was a finalist in the 1997 Grammy Showcase sponsored by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, issuing their 13-track self-titled debut on their own label shortly thereafter. Next came an appearance on the Dracula 2000 soundtrack with “Your Disease,” before their 2001 major-label debut for Universal, Every Six Seconds. The next year saw the release of Back into Your System, whose sound continued down the path of rap-metal the group had been following since its inception. For 2004’s Survival of the Sickest, however, Saliva took a more hard rock approach, a decision that brought the single “Rest in Pieces” into the Adult Top 40 charts. In May 2005 Dabaldo left the band, but was soon replaced by former Full Metal Jacket guitarist Joe Montoya, and Saliva’s fourth record for Island, Blood Stained Love Story, came out in 2007. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide

Supporting their new release Blood Stained Love Story, Saliva rolls into The Roxy May 30th. Supporting them are Mink and The Actual. Tickets are on sale now and Tickmaster has special promo that gets you into On The Rox for free. Saliva’s myspace also has a contest running thru the day of the show. If you know the answer to the quiz you get a secret code to use at the box office, buy one get one free. Good luck! Check out the Ticketmaster promo. Check out the Saliva Myspace contest.
