The Roxy witnessed a classic, an epic, a legendary show…call it what you want, but in our minds it was one of the best hip hop performances ever. Big, big ups to Myspace for giving us such a treat. And Mulatto, you guys can hold it down, we want you back soon. We have lots of shots from this show, so watch over the next couple of days for more. In the mean time check out the first of the bunch from our pro EV.

Our main lady, Ms. Megan Jacobs had to take a break from the booking grind as she serves not one, not two, but THREE days of jury duty. As she reported to day three, she ran into our very own house photog Erik Voake. What a party! What a great example they have set - serve your civil duty folks! Plus, those badges are pretty rad.
So since the last blog, the line has grown substantially! We’ve heard some great stories of traveling near and far, and we’re happy to have found out that this show is the only all ages show on the Foxboro Tour!

Drive A isn’t just entering the rock scene, they’re kickin’ in the door. The 4 musicians from Los Angeles have an irresistible modern edge with a classic rock vibe. Drive A write their own music and can play the shit out of there instrument. They just completed their first full length record with producer Julian Raymond. This fall Drive A is opening for Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, The Donnas, Fly Leaf, The Toadies and rock legends Cheap Trick. Motley Crue’s drummer Tommy Lee said, “These boys are SERIOUS!! Everyone better watch out or start practicing more.” Don Henley of The Eagles stated, “I’m shocked by the precision of the band & how accomplished they are beyond their years.
”The energy of their live shows kicks ass. They’ve opened for Sugarcult, Camp Freddy & Panic Channel. They played at Blender magazine’s SXSW event where they were showcased on VH1 music news. They are driven with an incredible work ethic. They are on a Mission…to be the biggest band in the world!
As many great stories do, the tale of Moving Picture Show began with a solitary want ad in a Los Angeles paper. “Guitar Player Wanted”, it read. That little ad proved to be the catalyst that put Matt in a room one day with Marjorie, Jeremy, and Manley. And with a few half-forgotten prayers from Sunday school, a handful of sweaty rehearsals, and some slyly won eBay auctions of rusty marching band instruments, Moving Picture Show was born.
Moving Picture Show is a school bus sing-a-long if the Police, Peter Gabriel, Danny Elfman and the Cars were all in first grade together. Their songs fuse the peach fuzz sounds of the early 80s with modern dance rock energy and their mission is simple: to make you spasm, shout and drop your jaw with their songs, spirit and fierce joy that could make your heart pound a little harder.
Melotia is an LA based hard rock band that formed in August 2004 when singer/guitarist Ryan David moved to Los Angeles from Sydney Australia. Preparations are currently being made for a full-scale US tour for the coming summer. Melotia pride themselves on the raw energy of their live show. “We write music and lyrics based on honesty and truth. There are no gimmicks.”, says frontman RD. “We’ve all been through a lot and it shows in our live show…”. What you see is what you get and what you get is honest, in-your-face hard rock music. March was a big month here at The Roxy. We had a lot of great shows but these were among our favorites. Rooney, Billy Boy on Poison, Young Dubliners, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Switches, John West and Matthew Santos, The Vacation, The Mooney Suzuki, AJ MCLEAN, Presidents of the United States of America, Kaki King, Candlebox, Dolly Parton and The Expendables all kept us wanting more. A lot of you have been taking some great pictures so we thought we would share them with the world. If you have pictures taken at The Roxy and want to share them too, add them to our new public Flickr group called, appropriately, The Roxy Theatre. Also, for the lastest photos from our in-house photographers, you can check out the “Live at The Roxy” set on The Roxy’s Flickr page for more. Here’s a taste of what was captured in March.

We hate to brag, as we know it’s only a few of the luckiest folks that get to attend -but it’s been years and years since she’s been here, and now in celebration of her new record - we are happy she came back to us!
