10 Shots From The Top

Now that we have started our own Flickr group, The Roxy Theatre, anyone can add their photos taken at The Roxy or On The Rox to share with the world. So far we have received over 1500 photos from over 100 members. At the beginning of each month we will post our favorites in our “Shots From The Top” post. Keep shooting and post often, thanks to all who contributed.

March Madness

March was a big month here at The Roxy. We had a lot of great shows but these were among our favorites. Rooney, Billy Boy on Poison, Young Dubliners, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Switches, John West and Matthew Santos, The Vacation, The Mooney Suzuki, AJ MCLEAN, Presidents of the United States of America, Kaki King, Candlebox, Dolly Parton and The Expendables all kept us wanting more. A lot of you have been taking some great pictures so we thought we would share them with the world. If you have pictures taken at The Roxy and want to share them too, add them to our new public Flickr group called, appropriately, The Roxy Theatre. Also, for the lastest photos from our in-house photographers, you can check out the “Live at The Roxy” set on The Roxy’s Flickr page for more. Here’s a taste of what was captured in March.

Dolly Parton Live At The Roxy

As if Friday’s aren’t already a reason to celebrate, today is going to be that much more exciting - as we welcome the Legend that is DOLLY PARTON. We hate to brag, as we know it’s only a few of the luckiest folks that get to attend -but it’s been years and years since she’s been here, and now in celebration of her new record - we are happy she came back to us!

Tokio Hotel Talks Roxy

It hasn’t been long since the boys of Tokio Hotel came to visit…but we miss them! Lucky for us, their first ever US performance (at the Roxy of course) is well documented in their new youtube videos! It’s fun to relive the excitement - we cannot wait to have them back!

Kaki King of the Sunset Strip

Voted one of the hottest artists of SXSW 2007, AND was one of the most anticipated performers of just passed, SXSW 2008 - we’re excited to have Kaki here! Her guitar playing is truly irresistible & something that should not be missed.

Still The Presidents After All These Years

Just a quick shout out to our pal Dave, and his guest blogging about the Presidents of the United States of America show last Friday! Thanks Dave - and check out his amazing photos too- is that Weird Al??

When bands drop off the map, its far and few between that can put out an album and tour like they did 10 years ago. However, when PUSA took the stage at the Roxy, the crowd proved that they wanted them back on stage more than ever. Singing along with every song the crowd grew together and the energy radiated from the floor all the way through the stained glass window at the top of the club. Then when things couldn’t get any better, the trio brought some guests on stage. First was Wayne from MC5 to help them cover his infamous song… KICK OUT THE JAMS, but the true highlight of the evening was when Weird Al jumped up on stage, accordion in hand, and blasted out Boston’s, MORE THAN A FEELING with the guys to close the night. I’m a fan all over again….

A Very AJ Update

If you’ve seen some of our past blogs….you’ll know we’re pretty huge fans of crazy fandom - and as we rolled into work this fine Monday morning, we were very excited to see some very enthusiastic fans camped outside. I especially loved the air mattress. For all you fans that aren’t able to check out the show tonight…what are some of your favorite Backstreet Boys memories? Are you excited for AJ’s solo stuff?
And lucky for us, as I ran outside to take some pictures…ran into AJ himself showing the fans some love- check it out!
