The Hot Hot Heat Contest is moving onto phase 2 - VOTING! As we mentioned before, their will be a total of NINE winners and ONE grand prize winner. By this afternoon, we will post 5 of our favorite entries and you will vote on which one you think deserves the grand prize - we will notify the 9 runners and winner by tomorrow!

- They used to be called “The Gun Shys”
- Jack White, The Beatles, and Johnny Cash are major influences.
3) The Deadly Syndrome - Did You Know?
- Conveniently, they are one of Steve from HHH’s favorite bands!
- Signed to Dim Mak records, headed by our pal Steve Aoki…who of
course has brought us some pretty rad shows, like MSTRKRFT

1) The 88- Did You Know?
- Prime time favorites! The 88 has had tracks appear on How I Me Your Mother, The OC, One Tree Hill, Grey’s Anatomy, You Me And Dupree, and commercials for both Target and Sears.
-How’d they get their name? “88 keys on the piano….88 constellations in the sky….the infinity sign….the most auspicious number in China….88 mph to get Back To The Future…88 cities in Los Angeles…a great French Kicks song. Welcome to the world of The 88.”
2) Derby -Did You Know?
-From Portland, OR - hope they’re ready for the LA sun!
-In 2005 alone, they shared the stage with - Decemberists, Cake, Magic Numbers, British Sea Power, the Posies, the Minus Five, Robyn Hitchcock, Robbers on High Street, Youth Group, Stars of Track & Field, Violent Femmes, Imperial Teen, Badly Drawn Boy, and Rogue Wave,

- Last year, we fell in love with this band when they opened for ROONEY during one of their shows during the Roxy residency.

They’re pretty much the cutest things ever -I hear they’re gracing the cover of the ever popular Teen Beat and Pop mags, which means they’re well on their way to making their mark in the world. So make sure you catch this show before they explode! (Jonas Brothers flashback!)

We’ve shown our HOT HOT HEAT love on this blog several times - they’re an office fav and we’re counting down the days ’til they rock the stage. Now, in true Roxy fashion - we wanted to combine our love for the band and our new love for contests and create something spectacular. We love the fan interaction, the ability to show someone a really great experience, and all the submissions! If you are a fan of the band (like us) you know that there are a few things that are SOO very distinct - and now in a classic battle of AFROS vs SUITS - you have the chance to rock the signature look of the band in photobooth (digital camera, poloroid, etc) form. Send us your best shots and give the band a true - run - for - their - style - money. Extra props if you rock the suit and the fro, but only one is required. PUSH PLAY CONTEST - DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION JULY 31, 2008
We can’t wait for Push Play to come to town, and in order to celebrate their arrival, we need you to create a poster JUST for this show at The Roxy. We will happily print the winner’s poster, display it outside for the thousands of passers by to see, AND have it signed by the band just for you.
All you have to do is create a killer poster - their are a few rules:
You must create a poster that represents both the band and the Roxy
- You must include the date of the show
- Atleast one picture of the band
- Atleast one Roxy logo
- The Roxy web address
- The band’s myspace address
- A hi-res image (so we can print it!)
- To help you out, please use the logos and images below

We know that the band has moved to bigger pastures…seems fitting as our Roxy show sold out in record speed! But we are happy to be involved with their upcoming show at AVALON in Hollywood - and even happier to offer a contest for you to WIN tickets! We know their are some serious die hards - and we love you for it! SO to celebrate the release of the new album (out today) we want you to pick your favorite track off the new album and make a little video! Funny, serious, crazy - whatever your little heart desires. We’re really excited for Swedish lounge-pop outfit Little Dragon to finally be coming Stateside. We’ve been spinning “Fortune” pretty much non-stop since it first came into our realm a few weeks ago, and now we have the opportunity to offer some tickets for you guys to win (we know—no need to thank us). The band are playing at the Roxy in West Hollywood, CA on April 4th (with guests Garth Trinidad and Jason Bentley), and we’re sure it will be a magical night to remember.
