Some Serious VMA Love For The Roxy

It’s already super cool that our homie Russell Brand is tagged as the host of this years Video Music Awards (check out his live comedy show here this Sunday!) - his residency couldn’t have been more fun, and he was such a cool guy to have around! Now, our OTHER killer residency o’ the summer (which concludes tonight!) TRV$DJ-AM is this year’s house band of the VMA’s. Add those, with a couple nominations for our Shwayze boys - and you’ve got quite the night.

The duo — a kind of beat-driven version of the revolving-door rock collective Camp Freddy that already has hosted such high-profile guest stars as Paul Wall and Warren G — will perform its third of three sold-out shows at West Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre tonight before going on to serve as house band for the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7.

MTV Is About To Be Branded

Russell Brand Live at The Roxy
Team Roxy was so excited to find out that our very own Russell Brand was named as host of MTV Video Music Awards 2008! He’s obviously one of the biggest rising stars and funniest guys around - and we’re excited for him to be slowly but surely conquering the states. His residency here was some hilarious stuff, and we can’t wait to see him on the oh-so-famous VMA’s (with some of our other favs, the Jo Bro’s)! We showed Russell nothing but love, and we are so excited that the Roxy shows are tagged as the ones that caught the attention of the MTV Powers. Congrats Russell! Here are few articles announcing his new gig!

Join The Cartel

Possibly best known for their stint as MTV’s first “Band in a Bubble” (They were challenged to write, record and produce a full length album in the 20 days while living inside the bubble, while fans were allowed to access 23 strategically placed web cameras 24/7) they’ve definitely managed so make their mark in the real world. With Cartel’s brand of pop/punk/rock - you can’t help but want to move. Come move with us…the strip will be rocking, rest assured. Tickets, HERE.

Chasing Adele

If you’ve been watching VH1 or MTV, you’ve seen the hot new video from Adele for “Chasing Pavements”- her single is really taking off and we can’t wait to see it live. She’s part of that really great soul mix - Amy Winehouse-ish jazz that gets stuck in your head instantly. As expected, this Roxy show is sold out - so for all those that don’t have tickets make sure to check back as we post pics from the show later this week!

Russell Brand Takes Over The Roxy

The bold English comedian kicked off the first of his four shows at The Roxy on Sunday - and it was hilarious!!! Stemming from the success of his movie “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” - he is the hottest comedian on the scene! We’re excited to transform the room into a comedy club a few more times this month- come check it out! Click here to see some great fan pictures.

Still The Presidents After All These Years

Just a quick shout out to our pal Dave, and his guest blogging about the Presidents of the United States of America show last Friday! Thanks Dave - and check out his amazing photos too- is that Weird Al??

When bands drop off the map, its far and few between that can put out an album and tour like they did 10 years ago. However, when PUSA took the stage at the Roxy, the crowd proved that they wanted them back on stage more than ever. Singing along with every song the crowd grew together and the energy radiated from the floor all the way through the stained glass window at the top of the club. Then when things couldn’t get any better, the trio brought some guests on stage. First was Wayne from MC5 to help them cover his infamous song… KICK OUT THE JAMS, but the true highlight of the evening was when Weird Al jumped up on stage, accordion in hand, and blasted out Boston’s, MORE THAN A FEELING with the guys to close the night. I’m a fan all over again….

Weird Al
