The Shys (previously The Gun Shys) are a five piece rock band from Los Angeles, California. Under their previous name they released The Gun Shys EP. Their debut CD, titled Astoria, was released on iTunes on June 6 2006, and in stores July 11 2006.
“Creating the best music we can and making it available to our fans has always been our number one priority in this group and now we are free to do just that. This means more new music more often for us to share with you. We have taken all matters into our own hands thus obtaining 100% creative control. We have built our own recording studio and are currently in the process of recording a brand new EP. The plan is to wrap up the recording by the end of the month and have the record available to everyone sometime in late August or early September, followed by tours of North America and the UK. Along with the record we have the freedom to release new videos, merch and other knick knacks straight from the band to you. It feels incredible to be free. Thank you all so much for your continued support and love. Because of you we can continue to make records and play our music as far as it takes us.
Always grateful,
Kyle, Alex, Chris, Riley, & Tony
-The Shys”
-on being released from their contract in July of 2007 with Sire Records.
THE ROXY Show Dates:
August 2nd, 2007; with Pop Levi, Grand Ole Party, and The Procession
As said in their official myspace bio, “Hailing from Chicago’s North Side, The Redwalls have been playing together for the better part of a decade. “We never set out to reinvent the wheel. All music is thievery; some just disguise it better than others. We make the music that we want to make, the way that we want to make it. And we hope that we are lucky enough to have people want to hear it.â€
As said in their official myspace Bio, “For more than 15 years, the members of the New Orleans-based band Cowboy Mouth have embraced, embodied, preached and shouted the joys of their hometown, sharing a slice of Mardi Gras heaven with fans around the world.
Their 11th recording, Voodoo Shoppe (Eleven Thirty Records), is their most critically acclaimed album to date. The Pittsburgh Tribune stated, Long known for live shows, the band has just released “Voodoo Shoppe,” an album which comes close to matching the group’s high-voltage performances. They go on to say, Every song seems to have one irresistible hook to draw in listeners. The Boston Phoenix called it, Inspiring stuff, and still a hell of a party record.”

Beth Hart’s voice stirs more than the emotions. It is a uniquely powerful vocal presence that paints pictures, parses prose and sculpts statues in every song. While it is difficult to define the essence of great art, you sure know it when you hear it.
Beth’s remarkable artistry attracted superstar producers David Foster, Hugh Padgham and Mike Clink to collaborate with her on her very first album, 1996’s Immortal (Atlantic). Perhaps her gift for turning each song into a deeply personal communication between singer and listener was most evident on “L.A. Song,” her worldwide radio smash (a Top 5 AC hit in the U.S.) from her second album, 1999’s Sceamin’ For My Supper (Atlantic). Beth’s charismatic performances of the song on Leno, Letterman and Kilborn touched off strong audience reaction nationwide creating phenomenal spikes in sales and radio requests across the country. The fire in that very special voice seemed to engulf America. Apparently, you know it when you see it, as well.
… not likely. It’s come to our attention that we are stuck with this major misconception that parking is ridiculously expensive in our neck of the woods. I am here to tell you that there are three lots (that I know of) which surround us… and parking runs the mill of $5-$7. Might not be free but it is definitely better than $40.

Conceived in a London hospital and born to a Jewish doctor and a Gentile nurse, Pop Levi has led what one might call a “melodic” life. He began studying piano at 3, joined a gospel choir at 7, started collecting records at 9, and soon after wrote his first song, “Through The Window Of My Life”. He created a band with some flat mates called Super Numeri. Pop did a stint playing bass guitar on tour with Ladytron, all the while performing on occasion with Super Numeri. And eventually set out for solo success. His solo project shone mad success after SXSW 2007.

Taking on an indie rock sound that has hints of new wave, Monsters Are Waiting feature Annalee Fery (vocals, keyboard), Eric Gardner (drums), Jonathan Siebels (guitar, bass), and Andrew Clark (bass, guitar). The Echo Park, CA, band — whose name comes from one of their own songs — began in Los Angeles in 2005, playing parties and clubs in the area. Those shows led to a tour with stellastarr* and Editors. In October 2005, Monsters Are Waiting released a self-titled EP through their website and Amoeba Records, followed in July 2006 by their debut full-length, Fascination, on Retone. In November 2006, they played the CMJ Music Marathon before a national tour with She Wants Revenge and Pretty Girls Make Graves.
The ROXY show date:
June 28, 2007 w/ Mellowdrone
Mellowdrone’s singer, guitarist and chief songwriter, Jonathan Bates admits that he has a compulsive streak when it comes to making music. “I don’t like playing a song the same way twice, which will either win people over or do me in,†he says with a laugh. “For me a song is never really done because the possibilities are limitless if you start out with a great chord progression and a strong melody. That’s what fascinates me about songwriting – once you have the foundation, you can build anything you want on top of it and then you can tear it down and start over again.â€

From a lineage of Honky Tonk Royalty one might expect some music reminiscent of grandpa. Hank III has very little interest in your typical “Country” album. All live performances infuse influences from his grandfather’s Nashville twang and Black Flag’s punk rage.

Gritty alternative rockers the Bangkok Five were birthed out of Hollywood, CA, during the first half of the 2000s. Their respect for D.I.Y. ethics had the guys — vocalist Frost, bassist Coatez, drummer Blanco, and guitarists Holcolm KS and Sweeney — self-releasing their EP, 10 the Hard Way, in spring 2005 before supporting it on the road with a tour self-booked by way of Web site extraordinaire Myspace.com. Sharing stages with various bands like Peaches, Hot Hot Heat, the Mooney Suzuki, and the Bronx, among others, the guys also performed at 2006’s South by Southwest festival in Austin. Their lively full-length Who’s Gonna Take Us Alive? arrived via Universal in late March of the same year. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

As the brain child of incredibly talented musician, Billy Morrison, Circus Diablo came about. Circus Diablo is a hard/alternative rock band composed of former and present talent from The Cult, Fuel, Camp Freddy, and more. This is not your run of the mill side project. This is a group of musicians dedicated to getting their “voices” heard. In July 2007 their debut album will drop. We expect great things here.
