A pleasant surprise to find out that the uber-cool article about Nic Adler hit the stands today in the New York Times. It’s a pretty big deal..and aside from being honored to be part of this whole movement, we couldn’t be more proud of our main man. The article is such a great way to begin to close out 2009. It’s been a tough one, and we know only better things are ahead for us. Hard work pays off, and it’s nice to be reminded of that sometimes. Thanks to everyone who comes and supports not only The Roxy - but the entire Sunset Strip!
Saint Motel have become known for their incredible live shows, and the buzz has gotten bigger and bigger over the past few months. Coming off of their just finished residency at Spaceland that boasted lines around the building and unreal performances, we are proud to bring you Saint Motel’s The BLACK & WHITE Show presented by KROQ Locals Only on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 7. This one will feature mind bending black and white video projections around the venue, $5 black & white drinks specials, and additional music from the amazing Rumspringa, Red Wire Messenger (formerly The Cheat) and more. As we reminisce today on the first anniversary of the SSMF, we have nothing but a plethora of musical highlights and one of a kind memories courtesy of the Sunset Strip to look back on. It was truly a feat to create a festival fitting for what the Strip is - a legendary home base to an entire movement. Being able to honor the creators (Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri, and Elmer Valentine) was something that was a once and a lifetime experience. Celebrating music, the venues, and the fans was so special for us - and this year, round two - is fixing to be wilder and more wonderful as we are closing down the Strip for the first time! Looking back on last years lineup, makes up proud! But stay tuned….this year’s will blow you away. Mark September 10th and 11th on your calendar!!
It does not get any better than Michael Jackson. Sitting here with heavy hearts as we jam to our favorite MJ hits, such a sad day. Not just for music, but for the world. Rest In Peace , MJ. And know that you’ll live on forever.
