As we reminisce today on the first anniversary of the SSMF, we have nothing but a plethora of musical highlights and one of a kind memories courtesy of the Sunset Strip to look back on. It was truly a feat to create a festival fitting for what the Strip is - a legendary home base to an entire movement. Being able to honor the creators (Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri, and Elmer Valentine) was something that was a once and a lifetime experience. Celebrating music, the venues, and the fans was so special for us - and this year, round two - is fixing to be wilder and more wonderful as we are closing down the Strip for the first time! Looking back on last years lineup, makes up proud! But stay tuned….this year’s will blow you away. Mark September 10th and 11th on your calendar!!

The Roxy witnessed a classic, an epic, a legendary show…call it what you want, but in our minds it was one of the best hip hop performances ever. Big, big ups to Myspace for giving us such a treat. And Mulatto, you guys can hold it down, we want you back soon. We have lots of shots from this show, so watch over the next couple of days for more. In the mean time check out the first of the bunch from our pro EV.
June Boom! The Sunset Strip was on fire this month. SSMF, Crystal Castles sold-out midnight show, TRVS+DJAM w/ Too Short and (last but not least)the return of Shuvel, all made June a hit. Coming off of May, we worried if we would be able to keep the great photos coming. We were not dissapointed. Great job everyone! A Special “what up!” goes out imnotuna, Never Cool in School, totallylikeduh! and letsflyawaythistime, all who are contributing members of The Roxy Theatre Flickr Group. Nice work, keep it coming. If you want to shoot at The Roxy contact us at theroxy@mac.om and we will try to accommodate you the best we can. Thanks again to everyone who added over 1000 shots to the group this month. Hit us with your best shot! Fire Away!!!

Over the last couple weeks we have been spoiled by Dim Mak and Company. A MSTRKRFT video shoot with with Nore, LA Riots, Felix Cartal, Lazaro Casanova and Steve Aoki. Couple days later Aoki Played The Elements of Life Benefit. Then Crystal Castles came in and basically took over the club. Every email, comment and phone call we received over the last week was about them. So many that we were forced to add a Friday Midnight performance. Both shows were completely sold out. We can’t wait to have them back. It felt as we are starting to witness a change in the music scene and we love it. Check out some of the vids and pics the captured the fun over the last month.
Thanks to the guys at Club Soda Media, Darren Kim and Erik Voake for the pics.

Foxboro Hot Tubs at The Roxy, OMG! What an exciting show!! This band has caused quite a buzz on the web and we cannot wait to see them live! Because of the demand on this show, you can only purchase tickets in person at The Roxy box office the day of the show. Tickets will be $20 cash and there is a two ticket maximum per person and both people must be together in line to receive the tickets. Have no fear tho, because we are allowing you to lineup starting 8am on the day of the show. So once you are in line and get to the door, you will buy your tickets and immediately proceed into The Roxy. Get ready to strut your stuff on the Sunset Strip and make an event out of it! Meet some fans in line…share stories…and make some new friends. Have no doubt, you will find some internet fame as I will undoubtedly be blogging the line in true Roxy fashion. We know their fans are traveling from near and far for this show - and we can’t wait to see you all! Also, a friendly reminder - no recording devices of any kind, no cameras and/or cell phones will be allowed into the show!
